A Letter from Shay & Kristy
Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, and getting to know about our family of three. We are truly best friends and enjoy spending time together renovating houses, traveling, spending time with our daughter, and cooking new dishes. We started talking about adoption when we were dating and are thrilled to now start this journey with you. We look forward to giving your child every opportunity in life, teaching them about the world around them, and loving them deeply as they grow.
About Us
Our names are Kristy and Shay and we’ve been married for nine years (together for 11 years). We both enjoy renovating houses, traveling, learning about different cultures, and cooking new dishes together. Our adoption journey started as a conversation when we were dating and it is something we have both always wanted. In 2020, much to our surprise, we found out we were expecting and were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Evangeline (Evie). She is a bundle of joy in our lives and we love watching her learn about the world and seeing her experience things for the first time (it’s amazing how holding a leaf or flower can bring so much joy). We are thrilled to now grow our family through adoption and welcome your child into our loving home. We are excited to share the world with your child and encourage them as they learn and grow.
About Shay
A former teacher, Shay currently manages the largest advanced teaching roles program in the country. He is outgoing and has a gift for making others laugh. Practical jokes are one of his favorite things, and he is always thinking of new ways to be silly. He works hard at his job and is very proud of our family and home. Shay enjoys grilling on the deck, spending time with our family and friends, and playing with our dogs, and making our daughter smile. He is always ready to give Evie an “airplane” ride around the house, play catch, or take Evie on an “adventure” to the local children’s science center, the park, or the country club. He is looking forward to teaching her, and your child, how to play different sports, ride bikes, cook, and encouraging their interests.
About Kristy
Kristy is a teacher by trade, but now serves as an instructional leader with the local school district. She is thoughtful and compassionate, living every day for her family, which she calls her “loves”. It was important for her to choose a career where she improved people’s lives, got to work with children, and still had time for her family. Kristy likes to sew, bake, look for great deals, and explore garage sales. She is excited to have another pair of little hands to help put the icing on cupcakes or glaze some homemade doughnuts.
Kristy can’t wait to become a mom of two (or three!) and spend her days encouraging our children’s passions and nurturing their gifts as they grow.
Our Family
Our daughter Evie is almost three years old and is curious, loves to cuddle, dance, laugh, and sing. Shay and his sister are very close and we are excited for Evie and your child to grow up with the same wonderful sibling bond.
Shay’s retired parents love to go shopping and are relocating closer so we can all spend more time together. Shay’s sister is a doctor in Washington DC and drives down often, even for little things. Kristy’s mother and stepfather are animal lovers, and it’s not uncommon to see them feeding neighborhood cats or wild rabbits or hugging on our dogs. When Kristy’s mother retired, they moved to North Carolina to be closer to our family. “Mammie” spends most of her days with our daughter taking walks, going on learning adventures, or playing at the park. She is looking forward to another grand baby to love on in her retirement! Both of our dogs, Sydney and Jack, are rescues and are loved members of the family.
We have very diverse backgrounds and we believe that it is important to honor where you came from. In our family, we’ve merged the customs, traditions, and foods from our various backgrounds. We promise to honor your child’s heritage as well by making your traditions part of our traditions.
Our Home in North Carolina
We moved to North Carolina ten years ago so that we could start our family in a place with strong values, and where we could provide a comfortable lifestyle for our future children. We chose our home with our family in mind. It has great schools, plenty of bedrooms for our growing family and for the family to come visit, and a wonderful yard to play games in. We love that the kitchen is open to the family room and breakfast nook so that it is easy to spend family time together. We have a large deck across the back of the house which is perfect for grilling. We’re only 15 minutes away from the country club where we are members, and it’s just three houses down from the neighborhood park!
Our Promise
We promise to love your child unconditionally. To always have their best interest at the forefront of every decision, to provide them with every opportunity that we can for them to learn, grow, be successful, confident, and happy. We promise to do everything possible to maintain safety and stability so they’re comfortable being themselves. We look forward to getting to know you and already consider you part of our family. We promise to honor the level of openness and contact that you are comfortable with.

More About Our Family | ||
Our Special Interests | One of the great things about our marriage is that we have very similar priorities and interests. Both of us believe that God and our family (which includes children!) are the most important things in our lives, and spending time with family and friends is definitely our number one. We both love traveling, teaching, cooking, and real estate. We enjoy learning about different cultures, languages, traditions, histories, and of course, the food! Kristy likes crafting, decorating, design, and fashion. Shay enjoys home improvement and gardening, and always has a project to make our house more beautiful or functional in the works.
Our Faith | We were both raised in religious Christian households and our faith is an important part of who we are. Kristy was raised Catholic and Shay was raised in both the Coptic Orthodox and Catholic Churches. We believe that God has a plan for everyone and everything. From bringing us together, to the birth of our daughter, and being called to the miracle of adoption to grow our family, we trust in His plan and look forward to what’s in store.
Our Musical Interest | Our musical interests are a reflection of our experiences and cultures. Our playlists will often bounce around from classical to reggaeton, Frank Sinatra, late 90s east coast rap, Arabic dance, alternative rock, and Kristy’s lists will almost always include some country music. Since music is a reflection of our family, music from your child’s background will definitely be added to the mix!
About Our Home | We have a 3500 square foot, 5-bedroom home in a beautiful area. The house sits on over a half-acre with a big backyard complete with a fig tree. The kitchen overlooks the family room and breakfast nook, allowing for family time even when one of us is cooking up dinner. The living room has a 2 story, wood-burning, stone fireplace, perfect for boardgame evenings in front of the fire. We recently renovated the backyard to provide more room for children to run, kick around a ball, and play. The nursery gets a ton of natural light and is right beside the master bedroom for when your child is ready to move out of the bassinet. There will be lots of opportunities to meet all the other kids in the neighborhood since our house is less than half a block from the neighborhood playground. A huge, 2 story deck is perfect for grilling and sharing a delicious meal in the fresh air.

We cannot wait to love and support your child as they grow up, spend time nurturing their interests, and teaching them to be wonderful adults. Becoming parents has been the best role we've ever had, and it is something we truly cherish. One thing you can be sure of is that in our home, your child will always be loved and supported, heard, and free to be who they are with unconditional love--no matter what. We also know that different people have different needs in different circumstances, and we promise to respect the level of contact that you decide on. |
