Most birth parents choose adoption for their child because they want their child to have a better life and opportunities than they can provide for them such as a childhood and a future with an education and close parents that they didn’t have themselves.
Be honest about if you can provide for a child financially, and if you can you give them the ongoing emotional and physical support that children need? Is your lifestyle what you want for your child? If you have any doubts about your competency to give your child a good secure future, you might want to consider an open adoption. It is better to choose adoption before birth than trying to parent for a few years and then decide on adoption for a toddler. It’s harder and you might feel guilty you didn’t choose earlier. If you are facing the decision now you can still chose adoption and have a say in your child’s future and who their adoptive parents will be.
