About Shane- from Megan

Shane is by nature a leader. He is incredibly hard working and does everything to the best of his ability. Shane is always looking for ways to improve himself. As a lifetime learner, he is always reading and researching. He has always been athletic and competitive. Shane has an incredible ability to stay calm and level headed no matter the situation. It is my life goal to scare him, I have not succeeded yet. Under his calm and serious exterior, he is a child at heart. He loves watching cartoons with a big bowl of fruity pebbles.

Shane spent 12 years in the U.S Army as a military police officer. Once he got out, he began working as a mechanic. He has always loved turning wrenches and is very good at it! Over the last 8 years he has grown as a mechanic. He now works as a field technician working on large agricultural equipment.

Shane looks forward to being able to have a little helper while he is working on our trucks and tractors. He has fond memories of learning to drive a tractor with his dad and is excited to pass those memories along.

Shane is my best friend. I can always count on him. I admire his relationship with God. Shane is an excellent provider and protector. I have no doubt that he is going to be an incredible father to the child or children that God provides.

About Megan- From Shane

Megan is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’ve been by her side as she has grown up in this life and I have seen her become a truly amazing person. She works hard. She is determined and rock steady. She is tough and sweet. She is strong and sensitive. She is dedicated and fiercely loyal.

Megan looks forward to becoming a stay-at-home mom where she can invest greatly in your child. One thing that I know for sure about Megan is that she will do the best job at raising children. She has been investing in children since I have known her in her high school years, and she is incredible with them. She scoops up kids at our church that all come running up to her. The kids that she has taught over the years at the school are always waving and so excited to see her when we are in the community.

One of my favorite things to see is when Megan is using teachable moments to show or explain something to kids. She is right there in the moment with them, and I know it sticks with them for life. Megan does this often when she is teaching kids about horses. I know that she is looking forward to doing this with our own children. Not only will she teach them how to care for and ride our horses, but she will find ways to teach valuable life lessons about things like trust, respect, self-confidence, and more importantly about God.

Megan truly is my best friend on this earth. I am so blessed to have her by my side.

Our Story

We have known each other for most of our lives. We first met on the school bus when Megan was in Kindergarten and Shane was in 5th grade. Shane was picking on Megan’s older brother, and she stood up on the bus and told Shane to leave him alone. When Megan’s oldest brother heard about the situation, he went over to Shane’s house to “work it out”, which then turned into Shane and the oldest brother becoming best friends. It didn’t take long for us all to become like family. Megan decided early on that someday she was going to marry a guy just like Shane.

After September 11th, 2001, Shane decided to join the Army right out of high school. He eagerly went wherever the Army sent him. Megan’s family kept in touch with Shane during his deployments. Megan would often pray for God to make Shane invisible to the enemy’s eye. In 2009, the Army had Shane go into recruiting not far from where Megan’s family had moved. When we all met back up for the first time, Megan was no longer the annoying little sister and Shane had become a man. We started dating in August of 2009, got engaged in March of 2010, and married in February of 2011.

We have now been married for 12 years. It has been quite the journey filled with ups and downs, but God is good and has made our marriage incredibly strong. We are a great team. Besides when we are at work, we quite literally do everything together. Every morning we work out together then enjoy taking our dog Cody for a walk around our farm. We do any and all home and farm projects together. Most evenings we cook our dinner together. We have always made eating together for dinner a priority every evening and plan to continue that when there are children in our home.

Our Family

Shane’s family lives in Northern Ohio. His parents have a wonderful homestead operation. His mom, Anita, has an amazing garden where she grows much of their food and she makes all kinds of all natural soaps and other products. Shane’s Dad, James, works for the county, farms the land, and is a skilled mechanic. Shane has two loving sisters. His older sister, Tasha lives in Northern Ohio and is younger sister Grace is pursuing her Masters Degree in Wisconsin.

Megan’s family is quite spread out. Her parents own a horse farm in central Ohio. Megan’s mom, Sheli, is a seamstress and she spends much of her time tending to their farm and running an equine ministry for troubled kids. Megan’s Dad, Bob, has worked for a large insurance company for many years. He is truly a jack of all trades. Megan has two brothers. Josh and his wife and 8 kids live in Virginia. He is in the Navy. Chris lives in North Carolina with his wife and 2 children.

We really enjoy our time with family. We alternate which side of the family we visit for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We always get together with Megan’s family for New Year’s and make hot wings. Shane’s sisters spend Memorial Day weekend with us every year.

Our family is beyond excited to welcome a little one into our family.

Our Home

We live in a 4-bedroom home in rural southern Indiana. We strive to make our home cozy and comfortable. A massive bean bag chair in our living room ensures we are cozy while we are reading. We have a large kitchen that we love to cook together in.

Our small hobby farm is situated on 9 acres, which is surrounded by several acres of woods and a stream. We have a new horse barn that we are putting finishing touches on, and the majority of our property is fenced in for the horses. We also have a large vegetable garden. There are neighbors nearby that we are well connected with and share close relationships. We live about 20 minutes from typical “city” amenities.

Shane is well networked in the agricultural community as a farm mechanic. Megan is well connected as a former PE teacher in the local school community, as well as with her current job at a local small business.

We really enjoy being at home. We love to constantly improve our property to be good stewards with what God has blessed us.

Our Promise

We promise to love your child unconditionally and do everything we can to protect and provide them with a secure, loving, and faith-filled home. Our family and friends will cherish your child. We will encourage your child to understand and appreciate the love placed in their adoption. Be assured that we will do our best to model God’s love and mercy within our home, so our children can develop an authentic trust in His plans for them!

We will always respect you as your child’s birth mother and be sure he or she knows how special you are to our family. We promise to be open to any level of contact you are comfortable with and to always love you.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

Our Faith

We don't know where we would be without our faith in God. He has and continues to be our firm foundation through this life. We believe that Creator God, sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the World. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone (Ephesians 2:4-10). Salvation is an act of God’s grace.

We go to a Gospel Centered Baptist Church and are very close with our church family.

Our Musical Interest

Our taste in music is very diverse. We listen to classical, jazz, country, rock, metal. We enjoy the shuffle button together. Shane is like a walking juke box.

What Led Us to Adoption

Having children has always been a desire of our hearts. As a child when Megan would be asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", without delay, her answer would be "a mommy." Having a child on our own was not in God's plan. In the 12 years of our marriage, we have been through just about every fertility treatment that we could go through. After our last failed IVF transfer, we looked at each other and said, "Let's adopt!" We took some time to heal physically, emotionally, and financially from the roller coaster of infertility treatments. We know that God has us go through things in life for a reason. Our relationship with God, and with each other, has grown so strong over the years. We believe whole-heartedly that God has prepared a child or children for us. We are so excited to see His plan unfold!
